• Autosave and session restore: Your work is saved automatically. If you navigate away or close the browser, you can pick up where you left off.
• Download .docx: Download your finished template as a production-ready .docx file, suitable for uploading to GravityMerge AI.
• No AI or API key required: Template Designer runs entirely locally in WordPress. No API calls, no external dependencies.

Do I need GravityMerge AI to use Template Designer?

Gravity Forms is required (so the plugin can read your form fields). The templates you create are designed for use with GravityMerge AI, so you will need that plugin to use the templates in production.

Do I need an API key?

No. Template Designer does not use AI. Everything runs locally in your WordPress installation. (We call the plugin GravityMerge AI Template Designer because it's part of the overall GravityMerge AI suite of plugins.)

Can I edit an existing template that's already uploaded to GravityMerge AI?

Yes. Find the template in your local/desktop storage, open it in Template Designer's annotate mode, make your changes, re-upload it to GravityMerge AI, and link it to the relevant form.

Does the 'Create from scratch' editor produce the same quality output as Microsoft Word?

The rich text 'Create from scratch' editor produces clean, properly formatted .docx files with correct styles and numbering. For documents with complex layouts, advanced typography, or intricate table designs, you may still prefer to design in Word and then annotate using Template Designer's 'Upload & annotate' editor.

What is the Clause Bank?

A library of reusable text snippets stored in your WordPress database. You can organise snippets into categories (e.g., "Confidentiality", "Limitation of Liability") and insert them into any template. Snippets can include merge tags and conditional blocks.

Does the 'Upload & annotate' mode change my original document?

The upload & annotate mode works on a copy of your uploaded document. Your original file is not modified. Changes are saved to a working copy, and you download the modified version when you export.
